My company name with VAT number is not correct, why is this?

After entering your VAT number in your Gearbooker account, the data such as address and company name are automatically retrieved for your company. This is done via a check with the European database of VAT registered companies.

If an incorrect or already changed company name is retrieved with your VAT number, then this is because this old or incorrect information is still registered with this European database. In that case, we advise you to inquire with the Tax Authorities or local Chamber of Commerce how you can have this changed. 

Once it has been changed there, we advise you to wait a few weeks to a month to re-enter your VAT number in your Gearbooker account because it can take a while before the change is also known to the European VAT database.

If you enter your VAT number and the text appears in red and you’re unable to save it successfully, please check whether the number is completely correct and remove any spaces, dots, or hyphens in and after the number.
