What happens if the renter cancels an already paid booking?

If the renter needs to cancel a booking after the payment has been done, the renter must compensate the owner for a percentage of the booking sum, as stated in the Article "Cancellation" in the rental agreement (unless mutually agreed on otherwise between the renter and the owner).

Follow these steps to cancel a paid booking

In case a booking already has been paid, a booking agreement is automatically created between the owner and renter. This also includes cancellation conditions that the owner and renter must comply with in principle. Download this agreement from your 'bookings' overview and click on 'view' to go to the rental agreement.

If the renter wishes to cancel after payment, this can be done under 'status' on the booking overview page. The renter will receive (part of) the rental amount back in the form of a coupon with rental credit, which can be used for a future booking (the coupon is valid for 1 year from the cancellation date).
The amount of rental credit is determined as follows:

  • Cancellation more than 30 days before the start date of the rental period: 98% of the booking amount

  • Cancellation 30 to 8 days before the start date: 95% of the booking amount

  • Cancellation 7 to 4 days before the start date: 85% of the booking amount

  • Cancellation 3 to 1 days before the start date: 75% of the booking amount

  • Cancellation 1 day or less before the start date: 60% of the booking amount

In addition, the renter will receive the service fee back. However, if shipping was included, these shipping costs will not be refunded.

The part of the booking amount that is not refunded as rental credit will be transferred as a compensation to the owner.
